About us
Texas Orphaned Wells is a coalition of nonprofit research and education organizations concerned about the growing unfunded liability of hundreds of thousands of aging oil and gas wells across the state. We worry that without the oil industry funding for well plugging and cleanup that Texas citizens will be left to pay the cost while also bearing the environmental costs of neglected old and orphaned wells. We created this website to provide information about the current situation, how it affects you, and what you can do about it.
